  Past projects with Forestry Commission - prior to setting up Munro Landscape

Bidston Moss Community Woodland, MerseysideA restored landfill site in Wirral, south of Liverpool. As part of the newlands programme the site has been regenerated into a community resource, with native woodland planting, extensive paths works, gateway features, fishing facilities, cycle paths and tree lined avenues. Material for parts of the site were able to be sourced by joint working with Wirral council to combine the restoration of historic Wirral Park with the production of material through dredging of ponds in the park. Soil forming materials to cover potential contamination and provide growing mediums on site could be produced locally in this way. Moston Vale City Park, ManchesterIn the heart of Manchester, an ex-landfill site, bordered by it's local community. The site has been transformed from a wasteland into a welcoming public space, complete with solar powered lighting to enable residents to continue to use the main pathway well into the evening. The design includes new paths, wildflower meadows, tree avenues, football pitch and woodland planting. Landscape Institute Awards 2011 Highly Commended - Strategic Landscape Planning category, as part of newlands Programme.

Brickfields Community Woodland, MerseysideA woodland and open space mosaic, with species-rich meadow habitats, on the edge of St.Helens, Merseyside. The woodland strengthens the network of local greenspace, turning derelict ex-industrial land into attractive community space. Design included new path networks, additional tree planting, gateway features, functional artwork for seating and access points and community inclusion in artwork production and design.Landscape Institute Awards 2011 Highly Commended - Strategic Landscape Planning category, as part of newlands Programme.

LIVIA Country Park, ManchesterThe 'Lower Irwell Valley Improvement Initiative Area' covers a large land area in the Irwell river valley in north Manchester, linking the city to the countryside beyond. Developments for the site cover a broad range, to accommodate the varied landscape types and uses. Designs have included woodland planting, fishing lakes, pathways, sculpture trails, orchard plots, habitat restoration, 'natural play' areas, climbing boulders, viewing platforms, gateway features and site-wide signage development. Landscape Institute Awards 2011 Highly Commended - Strategic Landscape Planning category, as part of newlands Programme.

Brockholes

Brockholes Nature Reserve, Ribble ValleyWildlife-rich habitats, created from the restoration of a gravel extraction works beside the M6 in the Ribble Valley. Brockholes includes a floating visitor centre, wildlife viewing opportunities and a large, natural play area, as well as links to the wider countryside and communities in the area.Landscape Institute Awards 2011 Highly Commended - Strategic Landscape Planning category, as part of newlands Programme.
