Brickfields lies on the edge of St.Helens, Merseyside. Surrounded by housing, with strong links into the green networks of the area, the project transforms an area of ex-industrial land into a tamed wilderness, for the local community to enjoy.

The design of the site interprets the industrial heritage of the area, creating a palette of materials from the site's past use as a clay works and the town's thriving glass industry. The network of paths mirror the brick built boundaries with their brick dust topping, and benches and entrance features echo a glass theme with resin-cast installations. Community involvement to create the resin artwork enabled a hand's-on approach to community engagement within the project.

As a site with segments of mature woodland and habitat-rich grasslands, a sensitive approach has been taken to the introduction of access and designed features. A main path route carries visitor's through the site, lined with an avenue of English Oaks with feature Cherries and Rowans. Smaller routes weave through the existing woodland to access areas of new woodland planting.
